Meeting Notes - September 18, 2002

Heritage Knolls Association meeting was held at Heritage Hall September 18th, 2002, at 7:30pm.

Nineteen members were in attendance.  Following are minutes from the meeting held that evening.

Finance and Membership Report

Geri Dunham, the association secretary informed those present that currently we have 117 members in our association.  The cost of the picnic was $1,232.59 and the cost of maintaining the entrances was $325. As of September 18th, the balance in our association account was $6901.55.

Frankfort Fall Fest

GREAT TURNOUT!  Thanks to all who volunteered to work in the beer tent.  We will receive approximately $750 - $1000 for the hours worked by the Heritage Knolls volunteers.  80% of the money earned will be put back into the sub-division to benefit our community.  Some ideas brought up during the meeting were to beautify our park with trees, shrubs, etc.  20% of the funds may possibly go back to the Beta Team for the scholarship program.  This program is available to high school seniors in our area who meet certain requirements and plan on attending college.

Please e-mail Paul with any ideas you may have on how to best use our funds. President@heritageknolls.org or call 464-5506.

Softball Tournament

The tournament will be held September 28th at 9am.  Please contact Doug DeGroot 464-9502 or Cindy Reilly 469-9760 to register or get more information.

Winter Bowling Night

Anyone interested?  It is usually held late January or early February and a great time is had by all.  It will be held at the Frankfort bowling alley, so pool and darts will also be available.  Please contact Paul if interested.

WebSite

www.heritageknolls.org

Our homeowners association website is up and running thanks to the hard work and creativity of Greg Shiple. This is a great site to find out about activities and information relating to our community.  There are also links to the village of Frankfort.  Architectural committee information, covenants, and by-laws are available to view on this website.

Entrances

The village has removed the dead tree at the entrance of Regency. As of yet, we have had no luck signing on a landscaping company.  There are 2 bids being evaluated at this time, when 3 come in, a decision will be made to hire the best firm.

Special thanks to Linda Hoffman, Mark Jackson, and Doug DeGroot who has put in many hours beautifying our entrances.  They have each done this on a volunteer basis and deserve a big pat on the back for a job well done.

Heritage Knolls Park

If you have not had the opportunity as of yet to visit our park there have been some changes in the past 45 days. As of date, the following projects have been completed.

-          Excavating

-          Seeding

-          Installing the sidewalk

-          Putting in the dirt

-          Planting the trees

-          Erecting the Heritage Knolls park sign

The park should be completed by the end of the year. A vote was taken at the meeting asking members if they would prefer a gazebo or a walking path put in the park. The outcome of the vote was walking path(10). Gazebo(9).  The Frankfort Park district will fund this project and the final decision is theirs.

Other Businesses

A vote was also taken to decide if compensation of no more than $50 should be awarded to members who volunteer their time or donate various items to the association.  The result of the vote was as follows, for(14) against(4), abstain(1).

Still a great concern on how to get more people in our sub-division to join our association. If you have any ideas on how to promote membership, please contact Paul

We know that we will face many more issues in the future that will directly affect our community. We need to have a strong unified voice in order to be heard by the village.  Please urge your friends and neighbors to sign up.  They can contact Geri Dunham for more information.

Again, thanks to so many of you that worked so diligently behind the scenes.  The members of the association appreciate your dedication.  Remember we are all a team, all ideas are welcome.  Please share with us.

Thanks,
Cathy Kurey
